Biokinetics is a branch of healthcare that focuses on improving movement, physical performance, and overall health by using exercise-based rehabilitation techniques. A biokineticist is trained to assess and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal, neurological, and lifestyle conditions by designing and implementing personalized exercise programs.
Biokinetics can help manage and treat a variety of conditions, including: Chronic pain (e.g., back pain, neck pain) Post-surgery rehabilitation (e.g., joint replacements, fractures) Sports injuries Poor posture Arthritis and joint problems Neurological conditions (e.g., stroke, Parkinson’s disease) Muscular imbalances or weakness Balance and coordination issues
If you're dealing with pain, stiffness, reduced mobility, or other physical limitations, biokinetics may be an effective treatment option for you. A biokineticist will conduct a thorough assessment of your condition and design a tailored program to help you improve movement, reduce pain, and restore function. If you’re uncertain, you can schedule a consultation to discuss your concerns and see if biokinetics fits your needs.
During your first session, the biokineticist will conduct a thorough assessment of your medical history, current physical condition, and any specific concerns you have. This may involve physical tests to assess strength, flexibility, posture, and movement patterns. Additionally, we make use of VALD technology, which measures your strength using a dynamometer, providing precise and reliable data to guide your rehabilitation. Based on the assessment, a personalized exercise program will be developed to help you reach your goals safely and effectively.
The frequency of visits depends on your condition and goals. In the beginning, you may need to see your biokineticist once or twice a week to ensure you're performing exercises correctly and progressing safely. Over time, as you gain strength and mobility, the frequency of visits may decrease, and you’ll be able to continue your exercises independently.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Athletic wear such as a t-shirt, shorts, or leggings is ideal. Proper footwear, like supportive sneakers, is also recommended for most exercises.
While both biokinetics and physiotherapy involve rehabilitation through exercise, the main difference is in the focus. Physiotherapists primarily help with injury recovery, pain management, and rehabilitation after injury or surgery. Biokineticists, on the other hand, focus on optimizing movement patterns, strength, and physical function to improve overall quality of life, prevent injury, and enhance physical performance.
